Traditional and authentic Italian Recipes from a Traditional Authentic Chicago Italian!
Has the fast pace of modern life taken you away from your heritage? Are you sick of quick meals on the fly? Wouldn’t you like to regain some of that old comfort with traditional recipes?
Hi, I grew up in Chicago and as a child, spent much of my time in my mother’s kitchen watching her cook up delicious authentic Italian recipes for a houseful of family. Even after I married and had children, I still lived right next door for many years, soaking up all her knowledge and expertise!
Cooking for me was a creative outlet, a challenge to perfect. And now after 40 years of tasting, refining and experimenting, I have put together my favorite recipes taught to me by my mother. Some of these delicious dishes migrated to America with my Italian grandmothers well over a century ago!
As I wrote my Traditional Combo, I embraced, at a deeper level, my ancestry and found it immensely rewarding.
I discovered that:
"From simple folk came some wonderful ancient traditions.
And the creations of these simple folk became beloved traditions.
For example, on Christmas Eve my mother made "gravy" with Calamari/squid. She made Baccala (codfish salad) and sometimes she baked an eel. These traditions are centuries old, but as I grew up with them, I just took them for granted.
My mouth waters when I see this photo. I can taste the "gravy", the cheese and seasonings in the meatballs. A taste of one of these meatballs held us when we were tired of just smelling it cook along with the piece of Italian bread my mother dunked in the "gravy"
There is much more in this tasty eBook combo including:
Classic Cakes made from scratch, along with Cookies for "dunking". Filbert cookies, and Cocoa Chocolate Balls are old favorites.
Here you can see the homemade Cherry Cobbler with the soft center just waiting to be cut and served. The Dreamy Chocolate Cake is a surprise from heaven even eaten without frosting. Finally, the favorite of simple Pound Cake that tastes great alone or with strawberries over the top.
